Treasures in the Deep Woods

Years ago, I was on a camping trip in the Canadian wilderness. We'd made camp on the shore of a small lake surrounded by steep forested bluffs. Partway around the lake, we could see there was a beaver dam, and they would make themselves known by swimming to within an 8th of a mile of the campsite and slapping their tails on the water. I decided to go closer to take pictures, so I started around the lake, climbing higher and higher on the bluff, looking for a clear path. The whole trek consisted of climbing over or crawling over vegetation. As I got closer to the top, I noticed several pink lady's slippers, their pink flowers standing out starkly against the green and brown. I had never seen them in the wild, and felt like I had found buried treasure. I took quite a few shots of them, and when I got home, I painted this picture from one of those shots.
