This was the eighth in a series of pencil and digital photo owl pictures. I often use old houses or barns in the backgrounds of my owl pictures, and there's always some significance to the ones I choose. I passed this house on Highway 77 in Tennessee, on my way to my grandparents' farm, and took a photo of it to someday use in my artwork. The only significance to this house is that with its front porch, weathered siding and tin roof, it's representative of farmhouses built in that area in the early 20th century, and probably earlier. I used a digital photo of a sunrise for the background, and used Adobe Photoshop to copy and paste the sunrise into the owl's eyes.
