This is the third of my hummingbird series. I painted this picture from a photo I took in the rose garden at Rotary Gardens. I added the hummingbird from another reference. Before making my final decision as to what to paint, I researched to make sure the idea of a hummingbird with wild roses was authentic. I found that hummingbirds don't get nectar from wild roses, because the roses don't have any; but the color attracts them and they eat aphids that appear on the rose bushes. Authenticity in my nature paintings is important to me.
