Hunter's Moon
Two wolves, one seeming to stand protectively over the other, can be seen on top of a snow covered hill. The moon has risen and is illuminating the scene with a strange reddish glow reflected on the snow. I haven't had any personal experience with wolves, except vicariously through the work of Jim and Jamie Dutcher, two researchers who chose to live in close proximity to a wolf pack in order to learn more about them. They learned that a wolf pack is like a family. And even though wolves hunt to survive, they aren't vicious by nature. When they became accustomed to the Dutchers, they behaved like big dogs: wagging their tails and being glad to see them. Hunter's Moon refers to the month of October. And since wolves are hunters, it just seemed like a good name for this piece.
