Silent Wings
The moon reflects on the clouds, treetops, and illuminates the barn owl as she hunts. In the distance, you can see a dark woods silhouetted against the sky.
On this moonlit night, you might hear the wind, maybe crickets or the howl of a coyote in the distance. But the owl's wings cut noiselessly through the night air, giving no warning of its presence. Because the soft wing feathers create no turbulence, there's no noise to drown out the faint sounds of a mouse or other rodent scurrying through the vegetation on the ground. This enables the owl to zero in on the location of its prey, by both sight and sound.
An interesting fact: I found out when I was reading about owls that there's a trade-off. Their feathers are not water-proof, so rain can deadly to an owl.
